The Hidden Treasure

Story No. 01

Once there was a farmer He had three sons. They were all lazy and did not work hard. They whiled away their time in idle gossips and fun. The farmer was worried about them. He tried many a time to make them realize the value of hard work but all his advice fell flat on them. He could not make out any way to reform their ways. He could not leave them as hopeless also being their father. He hoped that sometime good sense would prevail upon them and they would start doing some work to earn their bread.

Now the time was going fast and one day the farmer saw his end come near. He was on his death bed. He was now all the more worried about the lot of his sons. So he called them all before him with a heavy heart. He told them that his end was near and he wanted to tell them about a treasure that he had once buried in his field. He did not himself know the exact location of the hidden treasure. So saying the old farmer breathed his last. The sons performed the last rights of their father and took out spades to dig out their field with full energy. They Jigged every inch of their field very deep but could not get the hidden treasure. At last they lost heart and sat down in extreme dismay.

An old wise farmer passed that way and asked them the cause of their worry. They told him the tale of their woe. He laughed heartily and said to them, “My sons, your father was a wise man. There is indeed a big treasure in this land. You sow some seeds in your field as it is already well dug. Look after it properly you will get a fine crop and that is the treasure.’ They soon thanked the old man and took the advice. They soon became rich by their hard-work and unity.

Moral : No pains no gains.

Story No. 02

The Hidden Treasure

An old farmer tried his level best to mend the ways of his three sons but got no success. He was worried about their future. The idle sons did not listen to him and whiled away their time. The old man could not leave them as hopeless also being their father.

Seeing his end near the old man called his sons. before him and told them that there was a treasure which he had buried in the fields. He sadly told them that he had forgotten the exact spot where the treasure was buried. He breathed his last. Greed to get the treasure gave strength to the sons. They dug almost all corners of the fields to retrieve the hidden treasure but got nothing. They gave in and sat all disappointed denouncing their father. An old wise farmer asked them the cause of their woes and worries. They told him their pitiable story. The wise farmer understood everything. In a jolly mood he said, “My dear, your father was a genius, a true wise man. There is indeed a big treasure in the gelds. Now you do one thing. You sow seeds in the fields as they are already dug. Work hard and look after the fields properly. I am sure you will get a bumper crop and that is the hidden treasure.” The sons acted on his advice. They got a bumper crop and became rich. Now they realized the value of hard work. Their father smiled on them form the skies.

Moral: No pains no gains.
