The Greedy Belly is Bottomless
One day, a dog stole a big piece of meat, and proud of his own courage, he ran off with it, held it tightly in his jaws, and go for a safe place to enjoy it alone at ease.
Soon, the dog came to a small stream that had a plank bridge over it. Dog was crossing the plank bridge with a piece of meat in his mouth, when he happened to see his own reflection in the water. He could not follow that it was his own shadow. On the other hand, he thought it to be another dog with a meaty bone in his mouth.
Greedy, as he was, the dog decided to snatch the meaty bone from the other dog. So, he flew at his shadow to snatch its bone. In the game, he lost his own bone even.
What was the result? It couldn’t be but that the dog lost what he had because he had run after a shadow only. The greedy are never satisfied.
If you grasp at the shadow, you may lose the substance.
