A Wolf and A Lamb

Story No. 01

Once there was a small lamb. It played and skidded all the day long. Its parents advised it to be cautious of wild animals. It did not listen to them and went about carelessly. One day it went to the river to drink water. While doing so it saw a big ferocious wolf also drinking water at a distance above in the same river. It shrunk with fear but continued drinking water. The wolf saw the lamb and his mouth watered. But before eating it up the wolf wanted to find some excuse simply for the fun of it. He said to the Iamb, ‘0 lamb, why are you making the water muddy by drinking it when you see I am drinking here”. The lamb answered quite innocently but boldly, “Sic how can I made the water muddy? It comes down from you to me, not from me to you.’ It was quite right and the wolf could find no answer. After a while the wolf said again, ‘Why did you call me names last year?” The lamb very humbly answered again, ‘Sin I was not born last year How could I call you names, Sir?” The wolf had again no answer; but he could not be easily put off, so he said, “Then it was your father or mother or someone else. You must suffer for their rudeness’. So saying he jumped on the Iamb and tore it to pieces and ate it up. Thus the poor lamb lost its life for no fault of his. It is true that sometimes an evil doer and powerful villain can harm you to any extent. We must take care of ourselves against the intentions of such people.

Story No. 02

The Wolf and the Lamb

A little lamb was very naughty. Its parents advised it to be cautious and careful of wild animals. It took the advice lightly, One day a big and ferocious wolf saw it drinking water down the stream. He made up his mind to eat it up. He wanted to be fair even in killing. He hit upon an excuse to pick a quarrel with the lamb. He said, “O lamb, you are making drinking water dirty and muddy.” The lamb answered meekly, “Sir, how can I make your drinking water dirty and muddy? No logic. The water comes down from you to me, not from me to you.” This logic silenced the wolf but it made him angry. He said, “O.K. Didn’t you abuse me last year. You called me had names.” The lamb with folded hands replied, “Sir, I was not born then.” The lamb had no answer this time also. He said, “Then it must be your father, your mother or someone else from your family. You must pay and suffer for that.” Saying so he pounced upon the baby lamb and tore it to pieces. The poor lamb lost its life for no fault of it
