Greed can hinder our success

One evening, a king was strolling along a small stream when he saw a woodcutter jumping across the brook easily with a pile of woods over his head. The king was surprised to see this. How can one jump across a brook with so much weight over his head! He called the woodcutter and said to him, “Do it once more and I will give you a thousand gold coins.” The woodcutter was pleased to hear this. He tried to jump across the brook again. But while doing so, he fell into the brook with the pile of wood. When the king asked him why he could not cross the brook this time, the woodcutter replied, “This time I was having the extra weight of the reward on my head.”
