The Pleasures of Having a Pen-Friend
Many people have a keen desire to know about other countries and distant places. It is not possible to travel to these places and the best way to know about foreign countries is through pen-friends. Pen-friendship is a two-way written communication. We tell our pen-friends about the culture of our country. In turn, they tell us about the culture and heritage of their country. By having a pen-friend in another country we get a feeling of being physically present in that country. Pen-friendship, in a way, is like shortening of distance between two countries. Sometimes we invite our pen-friends to visit India and show them the historical places and cultural programmes held all the year round. It is easier for them to visit India due to financial affluence. We have, however, to rest content with our written communications only as it is hardly possible for most of us to visit foreign countries due to financial constrain, Some of us can pay visits to other countries. Pen-friendship is a pleasant and knowledgeable hobby.
