Jaisalmer Fort
No lo another town in Rajasthan epitomises the desert culture like Jaisalmer. It is dominated by its impressive fort of golden yellow sandstone, its solid rounded walls and ramparts reinforcing the impression of military might.
In fact, Jaisalmer is a citadel. Within the outer walls lie the fort and other historic structures. The seven-story palace is approached through a steep winding path that passes in front of the Temple of Bhawani, the protectress of the Bhattis. The king used to meet his subjects and entertained in the Hall of Public Audience. Close to it is the king’s marble throne and Jaslu Khan (water source created by Krishna).
Outside the fort, gate is Manak Chowk which leads to Jaisalmer’s fabulous havelis-Patwan ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli, Nathmalji ki Haveli and so on. Just to the south of the city wall is the Godisar Lake. In addition, other places worth visiting around the fort are Bada Bagh, Lodura and Desert National Park.
