Gandhi Memorial
North-east of Feroz Shah Kotla, on the banks of the Yamuna river, a simple square platform of black marble marks the spot where Mahatma each Friday, the day he was killed. Gandhi was cremated in 1948. A commemorative ceremony takes place
The Raj Ghat area is now a beautiful park. Near to the cremation ground of Gandhi is Gandhi Memorial Museum. This has few memorabilia of Gandhiji. These are a battered pair of spectacles, wooden sandals, a loin cloth, and of course his spinning wheel. Together they present a poignant sight – the sum total of his earthly possession.
The museum also has a large collection of historic photographs associated with Gandhi and houses a library of books by and about him and also some paintings based on episodes from his life.
