Duladeo Temple
One of the fascinating sites in Khajuraho is the Temple of Duladeo. The Duladeo temple, also known as Kunwar Math, was built by king Madana-verman, a staunch devotee of Shiva.
The Duladeo Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and therefore contains all the ingredients of Shiva temple like sanctum, vestibule, mahamandapa and porch. The temple is also known as the Bridegroom temple. There is a story behind it. Once a wedding procession was crossing the nearby gates. As the procession passed the gate the groom died and became a god.
The Duladeo Temple is well guarded by three rows of minor shikharas. Its mahamandapa hall, an octagonal structure consists of extensive design and decoration. On the other hand, the interior and exteriors parts of the facades is replete with erotic images. It also demonstrates the repetitive images of standing Shiva and Shiva-Parvati together.
