The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, is celebrated with reverence all over the country.
Mahatma Gandhi played a significant role in achieving independence for India from the British Empire with his simplicity and principle of non-violence. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the President and the Prime Minister, along with other eminent political leaders, pay homage at Raj Ghat the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi. Many functions are organised to commemorate the occasion. People remember Gandhi and his deeds.
Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in Gujarat. He was a lawyer by profession. But his love for his country made him forsake his career as a lawyer. He got involved in India’s freedom struggle. Gandhi was a preacher of truth and non-violence. He started the ‘Satyagraha’ movement for the Indian freedom struggle and proved to the world that freedom is achievable through the path of non-violence.
