A Lesson Learnt
“Jim and Jerry, I am going out for a while. Please do not disturb your grandmother as she is still sleeping.” the twins’ mother said before she left. Jim and Jerry sat down, cracking their heads for something to do which would not wake grandma up. It was impossible to think of any games that would not wake grandma up. The two mischievous and inconsiderate boys decided that they would have a game but they would try to lower their volume.
After much thought, they decided to play a game of water fight. They took out their huge water guns and filled them with water. The two of them began their war game. They hid behind furniture to dodge the water every now and then. By the time they completed round one of the game, the floor in the living room was very wet.
The two boys started round two and by then, small puddles of water were everywhere. Just as they were aiming for each other, they heard a loud cry. It sounded familiar. It was their grandma!
Two of them spun around and to their utmost surprise, grandma was sitting on the floor and she was groaning in pain. She seemed to have hurt her back. Both boys panicked and for a moment, they did not know what to do. Jerry then thought the next possible way out was to call weir mother who should be on her way home by then.
Their mother was shocked to hear what had happened so she rushed home immediately. She hurriedly called for an ambulance to send grandma to the hospital. The ambulance arrived shortly and paramedics attended to grandma. After assessing grandma’s condition, they suggested that it would be good to send her to the hospital for a checkup.
Fortunately, grandma was declared fine by the doctor in the hospital. She was discharged the very day. Jim and Jerry were waiting for her to return and they apologised to her. Their mother gave them a lecture and warned them never to misbehave again.
