The Valley of Flowers
Having seen an aerial view of the Valley of flowers, an awe-inspiring sight, I always wanted to go there by mad to sec every possible flower that was woven in that unlimited carpet of colours. Unfortunately, the trip has not materialized but the research is thorough.
The Valley of Flowers is located in the upper expansions of Bhyundar Ganga near Joshimath in the Garhwal region. It is an outstandingly beautiful high-altitude Himalayan valley renowned for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and outstanding natural beauty. The flora includes species of orchids, lilies, Calendula, Poppy, Daisies and Rhododendron amongst others. The Valley is also home to some endangered species like the Snow Leopard, Black Bear, Brown Bear and a lot more. Bird lovers can rest assured as the bird population includes Himalayan Golden Eagle, Griffon Vulture, Snow Partridge, Himalayan Snowcock and many more. It also has a host of Butterflies which contribute to the already colourful scenery.
Joshimath is the nearest town from which the trek to The Valley commences- a place I have visited often and yet not long enough to fulfill my wish of going to the Valley of Flowers. Go I will, to see the beauty that Nature has bestowed on us.
