The Traumas of Teenage
Teenage is a period of twilight—when one is not an adult but at the same time, one hates being called a child. The teenage is a time of adolescence. It is when a person has one hold on childhood and another on adult life. He/she can’t completely get rid of the childish behaviour but wants to be ‘treated as an adult.

This very aptly describes a teenager. It is a time of change in behaviour, attitude and moods. It is a time of rebellion. A teenager wants his privacy, wants to make his own friends and generally wants to try and stand on his own two feet….without his parents’ help. It is a time when he wants to try out different ideas. Usually, he tries to put aside the old, outdated ideas and experiments with new, rebellious ones. At this point, he can easily get influenced by new ideas and people. He tries to idolize people like his favourite movie stars or his favourite singers. He tries to act, speak and dress like them. This can be bad if the teenager’s idol is not someone with correct morals or values.
A teenager Is also usually put under a lot of peer pressure. He wants to associates with older people and to be the way they are. He wants to act. “Grown-up” to fit in. This leads to him keeping bad company and often developing bad habits like smoking, drinking, use of bad language, etc. He also falls in and Out of love very easily at this stage of life, as he is easily overcome by new people and relationships.
Teenage is a difficult stage both for the teenager as well as his parents. The teenager is going through many physical and emotional changes and the parents need; to understand that. They should not give up hope as it is only a ‘phase of life which everyone goes through. They should be encouraging and supportive and try and lead him on the right path.
