Sun Yat Sen

Madam Sun Yat Sen was one of the greatest freedom fighters of China. She sacrificed her entire life to attain freedom for China, and promote it into one of the superpowers of the world.

Sun Yat’s pet name was Ching Ling. She was born on November 12, 1866 in Shanghai.

Ching Linghad two sisters—A Ling and Mein Ling. A Ling dreamt of luxurious life and thus got married to a wealthy man.

Her younger sister Mein Ling was extremely fashionable and ambitious. She got married to a fashionable man and settled down in life.

Ching Ling was of different views. She wanted to make her country free from the clutches of the Britishers. After completing her studies, she began to work as the Private Secretary of Dr. Sun Yat Sen. Dr. Sun Yat Sen was 48 years old widower while Ching Ling was only of 19 years, when she met her future husband.

Her parents were reluctant to get her married to Dr. Sun Yat Sen as there was a big age difference between them. Moreover, Dr. Sun Yat Sen was not a rich man. He was a highly educated, person but did not possess sufficient money to provide his wife all the luxuries of life. Ching Ling anyhow wanted to marry a person of strong willpower and determination. She. wanted a life-partner, who possessed inner-qualities more than external elegance.

She married the man of her choice against her parent’s wish. Unfortunately, after eight years of blissful marriage, she became a widow. She somehow stood up to take the reins of her life valiantly.

Sun Yat Sen was very disappointed when the party got split up into two fractions, after the death of Dr. Sun Yat Sen. Both the party members would fight with each other, but call up Madam Sun Yat Sen in their respective parties. Sun Yat Sen became very confused and depressed due to the wrong attitude of people.

She didn’t favour any party, but kept on working for the development of her nation. She participated in many children welfare and educational programmes. The deep concern that she showed to the children made children love her from the core of their heart. They would call her ‘Grandma’ with love.

Sun Yat Sen fought courageously with all obstacles of life to bring peace and prosperity in her nation.

She died of liver cancer on March 12, 1925 at the age of 58. She is no more present in the world today, but her selfless services for her country, and the fragrance of love and compassion, that she spread in the world would linger in the memories of the people till the world tend to exist.
