Kamla Nehru
Kamla Nehru was a woman of great virtues. She always gave right guidance to her husband, the first prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru and prompted him to serve the mankind selflessly. She was the pillar behind her husband, with the help of which he rose to great heights and rendered his services for the welfare of mankind with all his heart, soul and mind.
Kamla Nehru was born as Kamala Kaul in a respectable family of Kashmiri pundits on 1st August 1899. She got married to Jawaharlal Nehru on 6th February, 1916.
Kamla Nehru was a melodious song of life. She always kept smiling in the midst of Vicissitudes and never troubled her husband, how much ever sick she might be.
Kamla Nehru was a great social worker. She wanted to eliminate the sufferings of the mankind and make them tread on the right path.
Kamla Nehru was naturally beautiful from body and soul. She hated the artificialities of life and remained away from them.
She was running a hospital for poor people in Allahabad. She wished to open up a large hospital for the downtrodden People. She had requested Mahatma Gandhi to establish a big hospital in Allahabad for poor people after her death. She had an intuition that she would not survive for long. Her dream was fulfilled. A big hospital named, `Kamla Nehru Hospital’ was established after her death.
Kamla Nehru died on 18 February 1936 in Switzerland after her prolonged illness.
Kamla Nehru was a sincere wife, loving mother and a wonderful human being, who cared for others and did her best to eliminate the sufferings of the mankind during her short stay on the earth.
