Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan is an actor par-excellence. He has displayed immense potential in acting talent and has claimed the position of the megastar of Indian film industry with his mind-blowing performances.
Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad. His father Harivansh Rai Bachchan was one of the most renowned poets of his times.
Amitabh Bachchan did his schooling from the Doon School. and thereafter took admission in Kirorimal College, Delhi to complete his graduation.
After completing graduation, Amitabh Bachchan went to Bombay to try his luck in Hindi film industry. In 1969, he was selected for a small role in the Hindi film ‘Saat Hindustani’. Thereafter, he played the roles of the side hero in many films.
His first performance as a hero was noticed in the film Zanjeer. Zanjeer broke the records of the box-office and Amitabh was now counted as one of the finest actors of the Hindi film industry. Amitabh gave hits after hits after that and became the Superstar of Indian Film Industry.
Amitabh can beautifully portray both tragic as well as comic roles. After establishing himself as a hero, Amitabh tried his luck in the field of singing too and got mega success as a singer. He sang a lot of songs which were generally based on our folk music.
Amitabh played numerous characters in different films and won great admiration of people for his superb performances.
Amitabh once tried his luck in Politics also at the insistence of Rajiv Gandhi, who was his childhood friend. He was elected to Loksabha from Allahabad but soon got disappointed from dirty political games by the politicians for vested interests. He resigned and concentrated his mind on films.
Then came the super hit T.V. show ‘Kaun Banega Carorepati’ anchored by Amitabh. It gave an entire new life to his career which was under the dark shadow.
Today, at the age of sixty plus, Amitabh is still the most wanted actor in the films and advertising media. The popularity of the Megastar can be judged by the fact that when he became ill in the last month of year 2005, entire nation prayed for his early recovery as they did in early 80’s when Amitabh got badly in tired during a film shooting.
Amitabh is one of those celebrities whose statue is kept in Madam Tusad’s Museum.
