A Day in the Life of a Teacher
It is a common feeling among the people that a person with average intelligence can become a teacher.
This belief is not, however, correct. It is in fact by a person’s desire or bent of mind that he or she chooses teaching as a profession. The life of a teacher is not as simple as people imagine. The day of a teacher starts with the prayer-bell. Thereafter, his task of teaching starts. He has to be punctual, regular and a highly disciplined and well-dressed person. He remembers the name of every student. He knows about the level of their differing intelligence. He has to know his subject very well. For this purpose he is required to study. He performs physical as well as mental labour. Besides teaching, he has to do a number of other things like correction of note books, marking of attendance registers, setting of question papers for periodical examinations, preparation of fee bills, etc. He has also to organize extra-curricular activities for the students. He combines in himself many functions. His life is quite hard. The only respite for him is long summer vacations.
