Dear Sir
I offer my thanks for inviting me to the garden party being organized on the auspices of the library. But I regret to say that I shall not be in a position to attend the party. I, therefore, seek your pardon for this. The reason is that I have to leave for Mumbai for an urgent piece of work a few hours before your scheduled time. In such a condition, I shall remain deprived of that auspicious occasion. I am really very sorry for this.
