The Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral system in the world. It is located 10 to 100 miles afar from the North-East East coast of Australia in the Pacific Ocean. Its total area is considered to be around 13,500 square miles. It is the world’s biggest structure made by living organisms. The Great Barrier Reef is considered the most beautiful sites in Australia. It has got many small islands, aquatic species and rough and smooth sea shores upon it. Included in the Seven Natural Wonders of the world, it is longer than the Great Wall of China. It can even be spotted from space. Great Barrier Reef is made out of 3,000 small islands made by living organisms. It has been made with the passage of lakhs of years. There are fishes, corals, insects, crabs, birds and many more species are found that amount up till 300 species. There are 900 small islands spread on the reefs. Whales, dolphins, snakes, turtles, etc. are also found here.
