Letter to the Editor of a newspaper against bad lighting arrangements on the roads in your town.
Dear Sir,
Kindly permit me the use of the columns of your esteemed paper to voice the feeling of the public against the bad lighting arrangements on the roads in the town.
Ours is a thickly populated town. The traffic in the evening is very heavy here. When the shops are closed, people are impatient to each their homes. But it is a pity that they experience a lot of inconvenience and discomfort due to bad lighting arrangements. At certain places there are no street lights. At others the bulbs are fused. So the roads are often enveloped in darkness.
Accidents occur very often. Day before yesterday an old man was run over by a bus at about 7.45 p.m. in Pandav Nagar and was killed on the spot. Besides this, there is a likelihood of robbery also. A week ago, a newly-wed couple was having a stroll on the G.T. Road. All of a sudden, the light went out. A man with a pistol appeared from behind and robbed them of all they had.
We have approached the Chief Engineer, Municipal Power House, and brought this grievance to his notice. He seems to be quite indifferent to it.
We hope the Municipal Corporation will soon rise to the occasion and redress our genuine grievance.
