Are Scientific Inventions Making Us Happier?
This is the-question very often asked. It appears to be more of an academic question than real. The comforts which we enjoy because of science could not have been imagined in the past. Electricity, which is the gift of science, runs our machines and provides us all sorts of comforts and entertainment. It runs our televisions, radios, washing machines, refrigerators and coolers, etc. Aeroplanes, which are also a scientific invention, have greatly shortened the distances of the world. But man has become scientific minded. Science has affected our civilization. It does not attach proper value to sentiments, love, affection, etc. In this way, the man has lost his soul. Science has also invented weapons of destruction. These weapons, if used, would be disastrous for the mankind. The opinion about scientific inventions is divided. The fact, however, remains that science has neither brought about complete happiness nor complete curse.
