Law and order is an essential requirement in every country. Laws of a country help in the maintenance of peace. It is required of all citizens to observe laws. There are such elements everywhere that break the laws. A policeman is entrusted with the task of ensuring that the laws of the land are duly observed by its citizens. If there is non-observance of law by anyone, it is the duty of a policeman to act in such a situation. He can either haul up the law-breaker or make a report to his higher authorities to take necessary action. The role of a policeman is very important in society. He is a person who safeguards our lives and properties. He is a watch-dog of society.

The Policeman
To maintain peace in society, laws are necessary. These laws are maintained by the police who protect our lives and property. In our country, the policeman wears a khaki uniform. He appears impressive and active as he carries the stick in his hand. Policemen of each country can be recognized by their official badge and uniform. The duty of a policeman is to keep law and order in his area as there could be many disturbing elements. He ensures that the public obeys these laws, as these are for their own benefit. And people, who do not obey these, are punished. Therefore, a policeman is an important figure in society.
Policemen are assigned different ranks according to their qualifications and training. Some are posted at the police station, or check posts, while some are posted in sensitive areas where the chances of disturbance are very high.
At the times of public demonstrations, political rallies, and strikes, when the crowd becomes violent, he comes into action. At times he is forced to use lathi-charge for controlling the mob. The only time he resorts to firing is when the situation demands it and that too on the orders of his seniors.
A policeman’s duty is tough, as he has to work round the clock to keep tabs on the disturbing elements. Come rain or shine, summer or winter, he performs his duty with the same professionalism
Although, a policeman works very hard yet his salary is low. To keep the policeman away from the clutches of bribery, the Government should pay him adequately, so that he can work hard and honestly at his position.

A Policemen
Policemen are important citizens because they maintain law and order throughout the country. Policemen protect our lives and property. In our country, the policemen wear Khaki uniforms and appear smart, strong, and active. Similarly in other countries also, the policemen can be recognized by their official symbol and uniform.
The duty of policemen is to keep law and order in the country as there are many disturbing elements in society. They ensure that the masses obey these laws as they are for their own betterment. And people who do not obey them are appropriately punished according to their crime. Therefore, these policemen are an integrated part of society.
All policemen are assigned different ranks and posts according to their capabilities and qualifications. Some are posted at the check post while others are posted in sensitive areas where the chances of disturbance are very high.
Sometimes, they are forced to do lathi-charge when there are public demonstrations in the form of political strikes, rallies, etc. as the crowd turns very violent. They have to resort to such acts only when the situation becomes out of control, but for this, they have to take the permission of their senior officers
The duty and responsibilities of policemen are tough as they have to work round the clock to keep tabs on the disturbing elements. Be it rain or shine, summer or winter, they perform their duties with aplomb. In spite of going through so many problems, their income is very low due to which sometimes some policemen become corrupt and accept bribes. So, to avoid this situation our government needs to pay them handsomely so that they do not get involved in corruption.
To conclude, we can say that policemen are the heart and soul of our nation.
