India of My Dreams
Essay No. 01
India of my dreams is a country without poverty. I want India at the top in Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. What is a country without freedom? What is a nation without equality? What is a land without brotherhood?
India to-day is far from my dreams. The gulf between the rich and the poor is increasing day by day. The rich are becoming richer and the poor are becoming poorer. This is very far from my dreams. I want a country in which nobody is poor. All people should have same type of equality in the distribution of the fruits of our land and labour.
In India to-day some people have all the fruits and so many have only thorns in their lot of life. They are driven from pillar to post. Millions do not get a square meal a day. Millions do not have proper, clothes to wear. Millions do not have a proper roof on their heads.
We must all work for some type of equality in the country. We need some type of socialism in which the poor do not starve naked on the roads and can be assured of their minimum wants and needs. Without socialism India can never be said to be a free country.
Economic inequality is the root cause of all injustices. In India of my dreams the gulf between the haves and the have not must be bridged. Everyone should have enough to satisfy his needs but none should have more to meet his greed’s. In the India of my dreams people should :
“Think less money;
Use less Machinery;
Depend less upon Government;
Produce fewer Children;
Follow Religion More.”
A number of facilities are being given to the SC/ST and other backward classes by the government for the post 30-40 years but the real benefit is not going to the deserving ones. The rich people who have already utilized these benefits are still utilizing the benefits and many of the poor are not even aware of the schemes. This policy should be renewed so that it is not being misused.

India of My Dreams
As a tree grows out of a seed so does the future grows out of the present. The seeds of India after 2020 have already sprouted forth.
The children who are yet to be born will not go without a school. By 2020 all the children upto 15 years of age will be in schools. India will, therefore, be a country_ of 100% educated people. I mean literates who will be more intelligent than we are today.
It goes without saying that the population of India will increase greatly but there will be enough food then to feed the masses. There will be no need to import grains from other countries because we expect our plans and schemes of prosperity to be complete successful till that time. But it will take more time to see milk and honey overflowing in this country and this may not be achieved by 2020.
By 2020 we will not depend so much upon cotton as we to today. Almost all fibers will be converted into cloth. Fashionable clothes will be made of glass and plastic material. Silk will perhaps may not be in demand by people of refined tastes.
Fashions will change. T-shirts will be more popular than they are today except that they will be flowery, almost like those of ladies. The Indian women will be dressed more like men, in half pants, full pants and shirts.
History will be made by that time. Many Indians will have landed on the moon. India will become one of the most powerful-countries of the world.
Indians will be well advanced in agriculture and industry. Our output will be increased by 2020. Imports of foreign goods will be cut down. We shall be almost self-dependent.
