How I Learnt Chess
When I was a young kid I used to sit in my father’s lap while he played chess with his regular friends. It used to amaze me to see the way, the players got lost in the game. They rarely talked except some mono-syllables or mumbles at long intervals. They would be staring at the chess board all the time scratching their heads in thoughts. They forgot about rest of the world totally for hours.
It aroused my interest in the game. I wanted to know what that strange game was which demanded such undivided attention of mind and thinking. As a Six-years old I urged my father to teach me the basics of the game. He readily did. And I discovered what wonderful intellectual exercise the game of chess was as I started playing. A-beautiful art it is, infect, it is a silent war fought with the minds. Needless to say that today I am the captain of our school chess team.
