Aping of Western Culture is Detrimental
India touched the zenith of culture and civilization. It had been an eternal storehouse of wisdom and knowledge. Credit goes to our marvellous values which kept an equilibrium between materialism and spiritualism. But today conditions have Undergone a sea change. Materialistic western culture has intruded into households. Our-youngsters are completely in its grip. They ape it blindly. This way they are distancing themselves from Indian culture and Sanatan values. Tragedy is that they are following only negative aspects of western culture which are thrilling and satiate our senses but starve our soul: Our youngsters ignore the past, care a fig for the future and live only in the present. In all departments of life we feel the onslaught of western culture. Virtues and morals have been given a holiday. For money one can stop any low. Relations have no meaning. Children say openly to their parents that they are the result of their entertainment. No respect of the elder. New generation has gone insensitive. Sex is its religion. Hate for morals has made our youngsters violent and aggressive, abusive and trigger happy. Girls look boyish and boys look girlish. Family ties have no place of importance in the lives of our youngsters. Marriage has become a commodity. Husbands or wives are changed as we change clothes. Life has become a matter of convenience. The blind aping of western culture has brought about all round erosion of values. Let us ape western technological strides, scientific high-jumps and long jumps but not its materialistic culture. Remember, soul is more important than body.
