Prosperity Gains Friends, Adversity Tries Them

Friendship is a boon but a real friend is a rare commodity. In this world most people are selfish and mere flatterers. Magnetic force of money attracts them as honey attracts the flies. They are nodding friends and keep you hypnotized with their oily tongue. They will pose to be your well-wishers and closest friends. They will suck honey out of you and render you sapless. They will admire your wrong deeds and call you ‘manly, you will be called a hero when you smoke, drink and gamble. But remember these are fair-weather friends. The dance to your tune as long as your purse is fat. The moment you fall on bad days they turn their back. They leave you in the lurch. Fair-weather friends’ sincerity is difficult to measure. Adversity provides the acid test to distinguish between a false and a real friend. Friendship is a spiritual bond. Self interest and wealth are pygmy before it. A sincere friend will never, betray and desert you when you are facing adverse times. He will try his level best to be your saviour. He floats and sinks with you. So make friends judiciously and selectively. A one sincere friend is hundred times better than a gang of undependable and selfish friends.
