What is Beautiful?
Different people describe different things as beautiful. Some may find beauty in a sunset, while others in a simple red rose. While an artist might think of his muse as beautiful, a mother finds her child’s smile more beautiful than anything in the whole world.
Little children tend to find beauty in the smallest of things. A snail in a flower pot, a caterpillar climbing up a leaf or a colorful fish in an aquarium will all generate the same amount of excitement, that receiving a new toy would.
As we grow older, we forget to stop and look at these small things to appreciate their beauty. Beautiful moments pass around us all through the day. Blooming wild flowers after the monsoons, a riot of colors in the sky at sunset or a clear night sky filled with twinkling stars are some of the examples of beauty that Nature shows us from time to time.
Once we learn to find beauty in the smallest of things we start enjoying and valuing what we have even more. We learn to look at and enjoy the sights around us instead of getting bored on a long car drive. Waiting in line to board a bus doesn’t seem that dreadful anymore as we now find beauty in watching an army of ants slowly but steadily carry bread crumbs from one end of the bus stop to another.
All of a sudden we find innumerable beautiful things and moments around us because beauty, as they say lies in the eyes of the beholder!
