Essay on “Mother Teresa Saint of Gutters”
Mother Teresa came to India in 1929 to help the sick and the needy on the streets. She chose Kolkata to start her work and founded many organisations and services for the poor. The homes for the sick were named “NIRMAL HRIDAY” and “SHISHU BHAVAN”.
Mother Teresa received many awards in India and abroad for her selfless work. She was born on 27th August 1910 in Yugoslavia. Her father was a businessman. Mother Teresa Came to India when she was only nineteen years old, but spent her entire life in Kolkata, a city also known as the ‘City of joy’. Truly, she brought hope and joy to many hopeless lives. She is called a saint, because she worked tirelessly for the lepers, who were treated as outcasts all over the world, never fearing for her own safety or health. She gathered money to build houses for them and helped them to earn a living as well.
