Sir,
With due respect, I submit that I am a student of Class VIII-A of your school. I belong to a poor family. My father, who was head clerk in the railways, retired last month. This has brought calamity to our family. Within his meagre pension of Rs. 900/- p.m., he has to feed the entire family besides housing, clothing, and education. It is becoming very difficult for me to continue my education, which is beyond our affordability. However, I am very keen to continue my studies in your school.
As you know, I am not only a good student, but the captain of the junior football team as well. I have brought laurels to the school in Inter-School Debate Competitions. My keen ambition is to pursue higher studies for serving the nation as a doctor.
I would be grateful if you kindly waive the fees and grant me la merit-cum-means scholarship. I am sure you would find me most deserving of this. Your kindness would permit me to continue my studies, and to fulfill my dream of becoming a doctor. I will always cherish your kindness. I am confident that you will kindly grant me a freeship/scholarship.
