The Last Ice Cream
Cheryl stared longingly at the ice cream cone in the freezer. It was the last one left. Her mother had promised to let her have it after dinner.
Cheryl gobbled down her food during dinner. She could not wait to eat the ice cream. She was about to get the ice cream when the doorbell rang. Her classmate was at her door. She needed Cheryl’s help to complete her homework. Cheryl spent the next half an hour going through the work with her classmate.
Once Cheryl’s classmate left, she dashed to the kitchen and bumped into her younger brother, who was rushing out. There were white and brown spots all over his mouth and cheeks. Cheryl ignored him and went straight to the freezer.
“Where’s my ice cream?” Cheryl shrieked when she saw the empty freezer. Just then, she heard her brother giggling at the kitchen door. She knew immediately what had happened.
Cheryl dashed towards her brother but he was too fast for her. He ran upstairs at lightning speed. Cheryl’s mother shouted for her to stop chasing him. She told her that she would buy her a new cone the next day. Cheryl had no choice but to agree. She spent the rest of the night sulking in her room.
