A Surprise Gift
I was searching for an old photo album in my parents’ bedroom. I got a ladder and searched the top of the cupboard.
While searching, I found a beautifully wrapped present. It was very big and it was addressed to me. I was very excited. My birthday was in a week’s time. I was bursting with curiosity. I forgot all about the photo album. I took down the box and carried it back to my room. I pulled off the tape as gently as I could so that I would not tear the wrapper. Then, I opened the box eagerly. I was thrilled to see a pair of Rollerblades, knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet in the box. It was everything I would need to go rollerblading. I could not believe my eyes. I had always wanted Rollerblades but I did not dare ask my parents to buy them as they were too expensive. I was surprised that my parents knew what I wanted all along. I closed the box and wrapped it again. Then, I quickly returned it to my parents’ room.
I was smiling from ear to ear during dinner that night. When my parents asked me why I was in such a jovial mood, I refused to answer them. I did not want to spoil their surprise for me.
