An Old Lady
Anne and Marie were going to visit Mrs. Lee. She was an old lady who used to be their neighbour. She was now saving in a home for the elderly. They visited her once a week.
Mrs. Lee was delighted to see Anne and Marie. She did not have many friends to talk to. She looked forward to talking to them. She listened to the children’s stories about school. She roared with laughter when they told her about the tricks they played on their friends. She gave them advice when they told her about a classmate who was bullying them. She also told them about what it was like when she was young. Anne and Marie were amazed to find out that Mrs. Lee used to be a swimmer when she was young. She had won many competitions.
Anne and Marie had lunch with Mrs. Lee in the garden. They made her favourite ham sandwiches for her. They played board games after lunch. Mrs. Lee was very good at Scrabble. She won hands down.
Anne and Marie left the home in the evening. Mrs. Lee told them that she would teach them how to fold paper cranes when they visited her the following week. The girls could not wait for the next visit.
