The Heavy Rain
Mr. White started his engine and sped off. He was late for a meeting. It was pouring but he still drove at top speed
The rain became heavier when he was along the expressway. The vehicles around had slowed to a crawl. The road was flooded and water was splashing about everywhere. However, Mr. White did not slow down. He weaved between traffic, sounding his horn at cars that were moving too slowly. Suddenly, he realized that the car a short distance in front of him had braked. Mr. White stepped as hard as he could on his brakes. However, it was useless. His car surged forward and swerved. Mr. White turned to avoid the car directly in front and another car in the next lane. He did not see that there was a motorcycle in the next lane too. He crashed into the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was thrown onto the road divider. Mr. White’s car finally managed to stop. However, he grazed the back of another car.
It was a horrifying accident. With poor visibility, it took a while before the police and the ambulance could arrive. By then, the motorcyclist was unconscious. Mr. White covered his face with his hands. He wished he had not been so reckless.
