My Mother’s Job
My mother is a pastry chef in a bakery. She makes the tastiest pastries and cakes I have ever eaten.
Every morning, she leaves for work after we go to school. The bakery is a stone’s throw from our house. Once she reaches the bakery, she puts on her white chef’s hat and a white coat. She also wears a mask when she starts baking. She makes many different types of bread and pastries. Her most popular ones are cinnamon rolls and a type of red bean bun that she calls ‘Red Bean Mountain’. Her bread tastes just right. It is not too sweet. It is soft and fluffy. There are always long queues for her cakes. My mother comes up with a new type of cake every three days. She makes them in interesting shapes and sizes. Once, she even made a cake shaped like a Viking ship. I like her strawberry cake best. It is sweet and creamy. The cake is so soft that it melts in my mouth.
My mother often comes home late at night after the bakery closes. Sometimes, my brother and I are already asleep by the time she returns home. However, the next morning, we will always have one of her delicious cakes for breakfast.
