My Family’s New Pet
“Come and see what I have!” my father shouted when he came home from work yesterday. My brothers and I dropped what we were doing and ran out of our rooms.
My father was carrying a huge box. He winked at us and asked us to guess what was inside. At first, we thought it was a new computer. Then, we heard a soft whine coming from inside. We knew what it was immediately. We pulled open the cover excitedly. A small white puppy stared up at us. We fell in love with its doleful eyes immediately. One of my brothers, Sam, picked it up. The puppy licked his hand continuously. When Sam held it close to his body, the puppy nuzzled its head against my brother’s chest. We were thrilled. Since our other dog had died of old age, the house felt empty without a dog. This new dog was even more adorable than our old one. Sam set the dog on the floor and it immediately ran around our legs. It licked us as though it was telling us how much it liked us.
That evening, our new puppy sat at our feet at the dining table. It nestled its head against my legs. We were looking forward to taking it for a walk the next day.
