The Family Outing
“Come on! I can’t wait to get started!” James shouted to his parents, who were still getting ready. He jumped about impatiently at the door as he waited for them.
James and his parents went to a large open field near their house every weekend. The place was usually deserted. It was perfect for playing Frisbee. James had a huge orange Frisbee. He was very good at it. He could leap into the air to catch it. He never missed. The field was also ideal for playing football. James and his father played against each other and tried to score goals. James’ father was much better. James was not good at dribbling the ball. His father always managed to take the ball from him. James’ father used to be a national football player. James tried to learn skills from his father so that he could be as well next time. After their vigorous games, they would usually have a picnic by the side of the field. James’ mother prepared a lot of good food. James would stuff himself with food while playing card games with his mother.
James had seen several bulldozers near the field. He hoped that his family’s favourite outing place would not be destroyed by development plans.
