The Race
Joshua stretched his legs and bent his arms behind him. He was warming up for the 100-meter race. He was the best runner in the school. Everyone knew that he was going to win.
Minutes later, all the participants were at their respective places. The signal was given and they were off. As expected, Joshua was in the lead. He was way ahead of everyone. However, without warning, he suddenly tripped and fell. He fell so hard that he rolled for a distance before coming to a stop. He landed flat on his back. There was a hush in the spectator stands. Everyone was stunned. Even the other participants stopped running to see what had happened to Joshua. Paramedics rushed onto the track. Joshua was groaning in pain. He gritted his teeth when they tried to lift his right leg. He cried out when they touched his arm. He was badly injured. They lifted him onto a stretcher and took him to an ambulance. He was then taken to hospital. The mood at the stadium changed. Everyone was worried about Joshua. The race was canceled.
