One should be helpful to others in times of need
One night, Seth Kishan, known for his munificence, was strolling in his village. Suddenly his eyes fell on a poor child who had three chapatis in his hand. A dog came near the boy wagging its tail. The boy understood that the dog was hungry and gave it one of the chapatis. But that could not satisfy its hunger. Then he gave the second chapati and finally, the third one. The boy then lay down under a tree with an empty stomach. The seth thought, I am considered to be a munificent person. But this poor boy is more munificent than me.’ The next day, the seth lawfully adopted the poor child.
