Dear Kumari Vipala
Please accept my loving greetings. I hope you will be fine by the grace of God. Two days ago I read your complete introduction in Kolkata: magazine known as ‘Lekhani Mitr Sangh’. I am extremely happy to learn that you are also a lover of art like me. I am, therefore, writing this letter to get into friendship with you.
I am a student of Xth class, studying in Delhi Public School, New Delhi though I am a resident of Kolkata. I am staying with my aunt here for studies. In a way, I feel accursed for being away from my family.
I am very fond of painting and photography. Here I always participate in Shankar’s Paintings Competition. Many a time I have won 1st and 2nd prizes for my paintings. These prized paintings have been published at the appropriate time in the annual edition of “Shankar Weekly. Apart from this, during holidays, I go out to see the natural scenery of neighbouring areas. Some of them I copy with a brush on paper and some are snapped by the camera. My album is full of pictures concerning the common masses.
You are living in a heavenly place of South India. You might have enjoyed the sight of tall coconut trees and also the boating from Trivandrum to Kanyakumari. You might have also sketched the beautiful natural scenery. I want some pictures of the scenic beauty of that place. It will be very nice of you if you are able to send them by post.
I am also enclosing with this letter some selected photographs and a published painting. Please write to me for any possible service that I can render to you. Rest on getting a reply from you.
Your well-wisher
Atul
