My dear Father
I hope this letter of mine will find you in cheerful spirits and sound health. For the past many months I have not received any welfare letter from you. All are worried about it at home, especially the mother who is constantly anxious about your health. It is her cordial desire that only once you come back to India to see all of us. I have passed Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in First Division this year. Now I intend to do B.A.(Hons) in Hindi from Hans Raj College for which I have filled in the application form. Self-study is ceaselessly going on. I am venturing to write certain things in this letter for which, I hope, you’ll pardon me. Papa, the greatness of one’s native country is boundless. Mother and motherland (birthplace) are many-fold better than even paradise. You are the Head of the Department of Chemistry there and if you return to India, you will get at least the post of a Principal. It will be a fortunate thing for Indian students to be benefited by your erudition and rich experiences in the field of science. How sweet it would be if you kindly think of coming back to India! Even the members of this family will feel gratified. All our eyes are set upon your return to India. With kind regards to you.
