Madam,
Most respectfully I beg to state that Mathematics Teacher Madam has imposed a fine of Rs. 50 on me for failing to show homework done on the day before yesterday. I truthfully say that I had done my homework assignment that day. While rushing up the stairs to my 3rd-floor classroom I collided with some girls who were coming down. Our books, notebooks, and exercise copy books got knocked off our hands. Somehow we collected our things in a hurry and hastened to the classes. There I discovered that my exercise copybook I had done mathematics in was missing. I tried to explain to the Madam but she did not listen taking it for a lie and fined me.
Yesterday the girls I collided with sought me out and returned the exercise book I had lost. I showed it to Madam but she did not relent. I belong to a poor family and ill afford to pay fines. I have been a disciplined student and can also a merit scholar. I am also editor of our school journal ‘DAV Bulletin’.
Therefore, I request you to consider my case sympathetically and provide me relief by remitting the fine. I will ever be grateful to you.
