My Hobby
Essay No. 01
Hobby means the work we indulge in our spare time for amusement or relaxation. There are many hobbies like stamp collection, gardening, reading, sewing, etc., that people adopt according to their abilities and interests.
After a hard day at work, people like to relax. And what is a better way to relax than by indulging yourself in your favorite hobby?
Besides, as it has often been said that an idle mind is a devil’s workshop, a hobby is a good way to keep a person’s mind busy. And I believe that everyone should have a hobby, however, the busy life one leads as it releases tensions over hours.
My hobby is Gardening as I enjoy the beauty of nature in my spare time. I am always holed up in a windowless office so it gives me great pleasure to be amongst nature.
I have a spacious, well-maintained backyard garden in our bungalow. Gardening gives me immense pleasure. Whenever I am depressed or in a black mood just seeing my garden takes me out of my depression.
I have grown a lot of fruits, vegetables, and also some wildflowers because I like to experiment with different types of plants.
We rarely have to purchase vegetables from the market as I have planted almost all types of vegetables, and eating these vegetables also has its advantage for health as they are fresh from the garden.
At times gardening can be a little expensive. I have to buy some seeds for certain vegetables and fruits during exhibitions especially held for gardening.
Essay No. 02
My Hobby
The word ‘hobby’ denotes work done during one’s leisure time. It is different from work proper since it is pursued to get rid of boredom and to refresh one’s mind after exhausting physical or mental work. There are many kinds of hobbies like reading, sports, gardening, photography, etc. But my hobby is stamp-collecting. I started collecting stamps in my childhood and gradually I developed my hobby. Now I exchange stamps with my friends and make purchases even in the market. I have joined a number of Philatelic Societies. Thus, I have collected about three thousand stamps from different countries and various denominations. Most of these stamps are of a rare variety and I have arranged them in a number of albums in a systematic manner. I have stamps that delineate great men of history, a country’s historical events, its flora and fauna, its achievements in different fields, etc. Some stamps depict great festivals or great international days or events. I spend my leisure time among my lovely stamps and forget all the worries of the world.

My Hobby
A hobby means working in your spare time for personal amusement or relaxation. Hobbies are of various types like stamp or coin collection, gardening, reading, etc. That is adopted by the people according to their mood, taste, and leisure.
After a hard day, people like to relax with a free mind, and what better way to relax than indulging yourself in your favorite hobby?
Besides, as it has often been heard that an empty mind is a devil’s workshop, a hobby keeps a person’s mind occupied. Moreover, everyone should have a hobby in spite of leading a hectic life as it releases a person from tension.
My favorite hobby is gardening because I enjoy the beauty of nature as I am always holed up in a small windowless office for hours at a time. But in my free time, it gives me great pleasure to be with the Nature that God has created for human beings to enjoy.
There is a spacious well-maintained garden in my backyard where gardening gives me immense pleasure by shifting my attention toward the trees and plants which I have planted myself. In fact, whenever I am in a depressed mood, just seeing my garden takes me out of my lowest mood and brings a smile to my face.
There are a lot of flowers, fruits, and vegetables in my garden which I have planted and watered myself. I like to experiment with wildflowers.
At times, gardening can be a little expensive because I have to purchase from time to time some seeds for vegetables and fruits. Moreover, I have planted various vegetables that are fresh and hygienic from the point of view of good health.
So, everyone should have some hobby or another which can involve them in their spare time.
Essay No. 04
My hobby
My hobby is collecting soft toys. In fact, I have been collecting soft toys since I was four years old. It started when my uncle bought me a soft toy of my favourite cartoon character from Japan. I loved it so much that I decided to collect more soft toys. It took me quite some time as it was not easy to get what I wanted and liked.
To date, I have about forty soft toys and most of them are gifts. As my family members and relatives know that I love soft toys, they will make it a point to buy me one when they are overseas. I display all my soft toys in a cabinet that my parents had specially made for me.
Whenever I feel bored or sad, I will take them all out, give them a cuddle and put them all back. I am also trying to change the position of where they are placed so that it will not be too boring.
Last December, my parents took me to Disneyland in America and I was surprised by the wide variety of soft toys there. Some were as huge as I was. As! could only buy one soft toy, I took a long time to choose and finally settled on a Minnie Mouse soft toy.
My favourite is still the one my uncle bought. Unfortunately, it is a little torn and tattered as I carry it to sleep every night. Nevertheless, I will still treasure it as it is my first and beloved soft toy.
I think having a hobby is very important for everyone, regardless of your age. It is something that you can look forward to when you are very stressed and want to relax.
