Eco Parks & Environment
In the West, a number of sensitive chemical plants have set up eco-parks to monitor the environment around the site. These parks act as excellent support systems for the conventional monitoring of environmental pollution. In fact instruments are not always feel safe but these natural checks and balances are.
For example, the eyes of the pigeon are very sensitive. If in a particular area there is high dust or high emission the pigeon will immediately take wing. Similarly, ducks and fish too are very sensitive to change in environment. If the fish which derives oxygen from water falls sick or start perishing, it is a sure indicator that the toxicity level is high.
Technologically advanced countries are today adopting the new concept of monitoring their industrial operation with a great amount of help from nature. In one of the thermal power plants in England, a particular breed of pigeons is deployed to monitor the industrial operation. These pigeons are constantly observed for any changes in their behaviour, breeding or eating habits.
In India, some successful industrial houses have started to take environment very seriously. There is a discernible shift in upwardly. mobile industrial setups towards a responsibility in keeping the environment clean. The benefits which accrue from such a course far outweigh the costs and the labour involved.
