An Act of Kindness
The Parable of the Good Samaritan is known to us wherein a Samaritan stop to help a man who has been robbed and beaten by bandits while two other religious members ignore him though they see his plight. This act of kindness is what humanity is all about.
A random act of kindness is a selfless act carried out in order to assist or cheer up an individual or even an animal. The reason is to make someone smile. If you go to the grocers and while picking up a few essentials you find that a person has dropped his bag of apples and you stoop down to help him, you are being kind. You obviously do not expect anything in return. Simple acts like taking the initiative to keep your surroundings clean- gathering wrappers littered in the park and putting it in the bin, comforting a friend, feeding a hungry dog and such like are all simple acts of kindness. The reward for these acts is the smile on their faces or a thankful lick from a dog!
At many stages in our life we have been at the receiving end of acts of kindness and it really makes us feel that we are not alone in this world. When things are going great for us, shouldn’t we be spreading smiles and cheer too? The feel good factor on seeing a smile on a needy face is invaluable.
